On the first Sunday of March (1-3-2026), the Mountaineering Club of Agios Nikolaos, together with F.O.R.S. Sitia, will cross the four western peaks of Mount Orno.
The route begins at the Monokaras plateau (750 m), above Sfaka. From there, following an old trail-passage that traverses the ridge, the group will reach the location of Koutsoura.
The ascent continues along the northern side of Mount Spathi (1,177 m), offering beautiful views over the Bay of Mirabello. The walk then leads to the southern side, with views towards the valley of Chrysopigi and Bembonas. From the saddle, the group will head towards the highest peak, Ascordalia (1,238 m), followed by Makry Lakkos (1,179 m) and finally Piskopiani (1,131 m).
The return is via the plateau, which will be crossed from one end to the other until reaching the cars.
This is an off-trail route, addressed to experienced mountaineers, and no one may participate without prior notification of the group leaders.
