The Museum of School Life of the Municipality of Chania proudly presents the visual arts exhibition “Writings & Lines”, part of the successful initiative “CONDITION OF TWO” – a project that explores creative pairs and the dynamic dialogue between different artistic forms.
This exhibition brings together the poetry of Katerina Vlachaki and the painting of Despina Katzagiannaki. It's a meeting of two creators who engage in an equal conversation through their work, searching for shared ground between line and text, body and language, silence and expression.
At the same time, through the installation “SHALL WE DANCE?”, visitors are invited into an introspective journey – a “dance” of free interpretation and embodied experience. The poet’s words float on rice paper and meet the painter’s black spiral – a stream of energy that flows and narrates.
The scientific curation of the exhibition is signed by Maria Drakaki and Georgios Orfanidis, who interweave a harmonious synthesis of different disciplines and perspectives, breathing new life into the idea of curatorial duality. This collaboration strengthens the dialogue between art and audience, between various fields of knowledge and aesthetic practices.
“Writings & Lines” is the fourth exhibition in the “CONDITION OF TWO” series and represents a bold attempt to create unity through artistic diversity. The exhibition is co-organized by the Region of Crete, the Regional Gender Equality Office, the Municipality of Chania, and the Regional Unit of Chania, with support from TÜV NORD Hellas, Chania Cooperative Bank, and is hosted at the Centre for Science and Culture of the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH). It is held in honour of the Foundation’s tireless and always invaluable scientific team and collaborators.
Media sponsor: Chaniotika Nea newspaper.
A trilingual art catalogue (Greek, English, Italian) has been published in both print and digital form as part of the exhibition, featuring, among other content, academic texts by the two curators.
