As of Tuesday, May 6, 2025, the Samaria Gorge National Park is open to the public, according to an announcement by the Natural Environment and Climate Change Organization (OFYPEKA).

All annual maintenance work on the trail, infrastructure, communication systems, and visitor services has been completed, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for hikers.

This year, for the first time, the park is equipped with a nowcasting application, offering real-time weather alerts for extreme conditions expected within two hours, at critical spots along the gorge.

Visitors are reminded that, according to park regulations, they must respect and protect the natural environment of the National Park and follow the rules during entry, stay, and exit.

They also assume full personal responsibility for their safety, especially in cases of unforeseen incidents, and should take any precautionary measures they deem necessary.

In addition, visitors must comply with emergency restrictions or entry bans and follow the instructions given by park staff or authorized contractors at all times.
