A Highlight for the Lassithi Plateau: The Potato Festival is Back!

With creative potato recipes and a full musical line-up, the Potato Festival returns to Tzermiado, in the heart of the Lassithi Plateau, from Friday August 22 to Sunday August 24, 2025!
The event is organised by the Cultural Association of Tzermiado “Anagenissi”, in collaboration with the Municipality of Lassithi Plateau and the Regional Unit of Lassithi.
Here’s what’s in store:
👉 Friday, August 22 at 22:00: A proper Cretan feast with the band of Vasilis Stavrakakis and Manolis Alexakis in the courtyard of the village primary school.
Entry: €15 with full menu included.
👉 Saturday, August 23: The same venue will host a Greek folk music night with the orchestra of the well-known singer Nikos Makropoulos. The evening kicks off with a performance by the one and only Iro Georgakaki.
Entry: €20
❗️ Doors open strictly at 20:30
❗️ Show starts at 23:00
👉 Sunday, August 24 at 21:00: A music and dance performance by the Mavrokostas School and a student art exhibition by Ms. Zourari’s class.

ℹ️ This is the 29th Potato Festival, and the organisers promise:
“Don’t forget – over 4,000 kilos of potatoes will be cooked this year, in a variety of recipes, all peeled and chopped by hand!”
