For the twelfth consecutive year, the Cretan Cuisine Festival continues its journey across Crete. In 2026, this major celebration of Cretan gastronomy will be hosted in Arkalochori, showcasing Crete’s rich culinary heritage, the nutritional value of local products, and the enduring connection between the Cretan diet, culture, health and sustainable development.

The festival is organised by the Cretan Cuisine Festival Association, with the support of the Region of Crete – Regional Development Fund of Crete, the Municipality of Minoa Pediada, and the Arkalochori Cultural Association, under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture.

The main events of the 12th Cretan Cuisine Festival will take place on Sunday, 2 August 2026, at the Arkalochori Exhibition Centre.

The official opening of the festival will begin at 18:30, with the presentation of the participating associations and organisations in the Conference Centre Hall.

The 12th Cretan Cuisine Festival will be presented by journalist Maria Kallergi.

The Associations of Crete Join Forces

The 12th Cretan Cuisine Festival brings together cultural associations and organisations from every corner of Crete, joining forces for a great celebration of gastronomy, tradition and culture.

Their participation is the heart of the festival, reflecting the spirit of cooperation, community and generosity that has long characterised Crete.

The World Council of Cretans will be the Guest of Honour at the 12th Cretan Cuisine Festival.

The programme includes:

• Traditional cooking demonstrations by cultural associations and organisations from across Crete.
• A traditional weaving exhibition featuring handwoven textiles from villages throughout Crete.
• An interactive basket-weaving workshop, one of Crete's oldest traditional crafts, with Maria Kalentaki.
• Children's workshop: "Making Koulourakia", organised by the Arkalochori Cultural Association.
• Children's workshop: "Colourful Prints from Our Kitchen", with speech therapist Georgia Chalkiadaki and educators Natasa Tamiolaki and Kallia Chaniotaki.
• Interactive workshop: "Sugared Mantinades", presenting the sweetest tradition of the Pediada region, organised by the Apostolianoi Cultural Association "Oi Apostoloi".
• Interactive workshop: "Cretan Herbs in Our Lives", organised by the Samba Association of Active Citizens.
• Live concert by Dimitris Spiridakis and his band.
• Presentation of traditional Cretan dances by the "Geranos" School of Traditional Dances of the Arkalochori Cultural Association.
