Situated along the northwest winds of the Ionian Sea, this coastal area benefits from consistent winds devoid of gusts or shifts in direction. Throughout the summer, the presence of sea breezes ensures nearly daily ideal conditions for windsurfing activities (ranging between 4 and 5 Beaufort, occasionally reaching 6 Beaufort on certain days).

Along the southern edge of the lagoon, an array of exceptional freestyle, freeride, and slalom conditions awaits. The combination of flat water and consistent winds ensures optimal circumstances for honing skills, whether you're mastering carve gybes or attempting your initial freestyle manoeuvres. The lagoon itself features deeper waters at its centre, making it an ideal playground for kitesurfing enthusiasts.

The Holy Monastery of Chrysoskalitissa is a 17^th century Orthodox monastery situated at the southwestern tip of the Kissamos municipality, overlooking the serene Libyan Sea. Perched at an altitude of 35 metres, it is dedicated to the Holy Trinity and the Dormition of the Virgin Mary. 

Today, nestled between the serene monastery and the renowned Elafonisi beach, there exist a picturesque cluster of charming houses, lodging for travellers, and a delightful taverna.

At the foot of the majestic staircase that leads to the Chrysoskalitissa Monastery, a delightful shop awaits, offering a wide array of ecclesiastical handicrafts. Here, you can browse through a collection of exquisite small crosses and icons, perfect as memorable souvenirs or thoughtful gifts.
