Hippopotamus creutzburgi
The hippos of Crete Hippopotamus creutzburgi were smaller than today, but much larger than the last endemin european hippo, the Hippo of Cyprus Phanourios minor.
The morphological feautures of the limps and head shows numerous adaptations to a dry enviroment.
They lived in Crete, mainly the last 500,000 years and probably became extinct 12,000 years ago, at the same time that the hippos of Cyprus became extinct.
