The First Hunting Federation of Crete & Dodecanese operates as a non-profit legal entity under private law, overseen by the Directorate of Coordination & Inspection of Forests within the Decentralised Administration of Crete. It holds membership in the Hunting Confederation of Greece and is governed by a 7-member Board of Directors.
The supervision by the Directorate of Coordination & Inspection of Forests covers both its activities and the management of financial resources, which are solely sourced from the funds of around 15,000 hunter-members belonging to the 24 Hunting Associations of Crete and the Dodecanese.
Its primary objective is to ensure the protection and sustainable management of the game population within its jurisdiction, adhering to principles of sustainability and environmental conservation. Accordingly, as outlined in its statutes, it is mandated to allocate the majority of its revenue towards initiatives aimed at promoting the development of wildlife species and enhancing their habitats.
