Department of Psychology, University of Crete

The Department of Psychology of the School of Social Sciences at the University of Crete was established in 1984. It commenced operations in the winter semester of the academic year 1987-88 in Rethymno. 

It is the oldest Psychology Department in Greece, and the late psychologist Maria Chourdaki, who hailed from Rethymno, played a significant role in its establishment through her dedicated efforts. Until her passing in 2010, she served as an honorary head of the Department.
