Co-organised by the Region of Crete and the Municipality of Anogeia, Yakintheia 2026 honours this year the weaving tradition of Anogeia and the women who kept it alive through the years, dedicating this year's festival to Ermioni Xylouri – Kalomoiri, one of the last great weavers of the village.

On 24 and 25 July, at the Agios Hyakinthos Theatre, the art of weaving takes centre stage in a two-day tribute where tradition meets music, theatre and contemporary artistic creation. The presence of 90-year-old Ermioni beside her loom stands as a living symbol of an art that has been passed down from generation to generation through the hands of the women of Anogeia.

The programme includes a concert by Vasilis Lekkas, with the participation of Eleni Vardoulaki, a tribute to the history of Anogeian weaving by the Scientific Director of the Anogeia Weaving Centre, Christina Tripodianaki, the theatrical monologue "Ismene, the Spinner of Twilight" starring Emmanouela Margioula, as well as a special musical gathering featuring Eleni and Souzana Vougioukli, Marina Dakanali, Stella Seiragaki and Loudovikos of Anogeia.

The events are accompanied by parallel activities showcasing the richness of Anogeian tradition, including an open-air exhibition of historic woven textiles, a thread portrait exhibition by Krystallia Nikiforou, film screenings dedicated to weaving, and activities highlighting the products of Psiloritis.

The programme concludes on 5 August with the screening of "Kapodistrias", directed by Yannis Smaragdis, in the presence of the director.
