The Civil Protection Department of the Region of Crete informs the public that all Civil Protection Mechanism Services have been placed on Red Code mobilisation status, as a deterioration in weather conditions at Red Warning level is forecast in Crete from the evening hours of Wednesday, September 30, 2026, until Sunday, October 4, 2026, with the main features being:

a) locally heavy rainfall and thunderstorms
b) very strong northeasterly winds

Citizens are advised to be particularly cautious in areas affected by severe weather conditions and to follow the instructions of the Authorities for their personal safety.

THUNDERSTORMS – FLOODING

In the event of a possible flood risk, move away in good time from basements, coastal areas, streams and torrents. Adjust your plans and under no circumstances travel by vehicle or on foot during the peak of the severe weather conditions.

GALE-FORCE WINDS

When gale-force winds occur, avoid activities at sea, in coastal areas and in the countryside.
