The 7th international ski mountaineering race Pierra Creta returns dynamically to Psiloritis on Saturday, March 7, 2026, bringing together around 230 athletes from 15 countries and confirming its position as one of the most important winter sporting events in southern Europe. 

The event, organised with the support of the Region of Crete, has now established itself as a reference point for the global ski mountaineering and racing community, highlighting Crete as the southernmost ski mountaineering destination in Europe. The mountain terrain and the unique snow conditions create a truly distinctive racing environment, capable of attracting high-level athletes, as well as mountain enthusiasts who want to experience the intensity and authenticity of the sport up close.

Beyond the sporting dimension, Pierra Creta also acts as a platform of cooperation between athletes, local authorities, volunteers and communities of the wider region, strengthening solidarity and collective effort. At the same time, it contributes significantly to the strategic promotion of Crete as a destination for sports and winter tourism, presenting a different, authentic and dynamic image of the island beyond the summer season.
