The Natural Environment and Climate Change Agency has announced that due to the earthquake that struck early Thursday morning, May 22, 2025, the Samaria Gorge will remain closed to visitors from both entrances.
A further update is expected later in the afternoon.
The Municipality of Sfakia has announced that the Imbros Gorge will remain closed today, Thursday 22 May 2025, following an earthquake that occurred earlier in the wider area. This decision was made as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of visitors.
