The Cultural Association of Fodele “Dominikos Theotokopoulos” is pleased to host the new exhibition by Polish artist Gina Malinowski, titled The Colours of the Soul.

The exhibition is held under the auspices of Marszalkini Wojewodztwa Zachodniopomorskiego and Ms. Anna Bankowska.
It opened on 15 June and will run until 7 July 2025.

Gina Malinowski is a multi-talented artist—painter, costume designer, educator, and cultural facilitator—and a member of the Association of Visual Artists of Wielkopolska. In 2019, she was honoured as Personality of the Year for her exceptional dedication to cultural development. In 2024, she received the Silver Gryf Honorary Award from the Marshal of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, recognising her significant cultural and artistic contributions to the region.

Malinowski's work focuses on emotional and symbolic painting and the design of historical costumes, with a special emphasis on the Baroque period. As an educator, she conducts art workshops for young people at the Young Artists’ Studio in Borne Sulinowo, sharing her knowledge, aesthetic sensitivity, and creative passion.

She is a strong advocate for art as a space for meeting, learning, and dialogue. Her artistic and social activities are an important contribution to Poland’s cultural life. Born in Poland and professionally active for years in Germany, she now lives and works in Borne Sulinowo, where she pursues her creative goals. Since 2017, she has been president and founder of the Stacja Kultura Association, organising major international art events such as the Art Camp “Stacja Kultura” at Siemczyno Palace and the International Art Review “From the Mountains to the Sea”, supported by a coalition of three voivodeships: Wielkopolskie, Dolnośląskie, and Zachodniopomorskie.

The Colours of the Soul
In the halls of the El Greco Museum, we get a glimpse of Gina Malinowski’s deeply personal art—paintings that speak to both the imagination and emotion.

The exhibition showcases three flower-themed cycles: White Peonies from the Preludium series (1–6), Journey into the Depths of Nature, and Small-format Tulips. Colour is at the heart of her practice—not just visually, but symbolically and emotionally. Her contrasts highlight areas of the canvas while colour combinations create rhythm and energy. The result is paintings filled with intense feeling and expressive force.

Malinowski often focuses on a single bloom per canvas. The space bursts with colour and form—be it a peony, a tulip, or an imagined flower. She draws from the deep, allegorical history of floral imagery to create her own visual language. In the Preludium pieces, the focus is on light, colour, and texture, exploring the lush form of the peony—symbol of wealth, happiness, romantic love, fertility, and transience.

Her tulips, echoing the rich history of 17th-century Dutch art, celebrate sensuality, beauty, exoticism, and the fleeting nature of life. These works burst with colour and detailed form, inviting the viewer into a vibrant world.

In the Journey into the Depths of Nature series, painted as a polyptych, we’re invited into a dreamlike, almost mythical world. The bold colours contrast with dark, metaphysical backgrounds, creating harmony through asymmetry and rhythm. The forms pulse with life and movement, offering a rich, tactile experience.

Through her canvases, Gina Malinowski invites us to embark on a personal, emotional journey. Her paintings stir the senses, raise questions, and offer a uniquely personal kind of inspiration.
