Nikos Anastasiou Appointed General Manager of the New Heraklion International Airport

Mr Nikos Anastasiou took up the position of General Manager of the company behind the New Heraklion International Airport of Crete (DAIK) on Monday, 8 September 2025.

According to the relevant announcement, Mr Anastasiou has extensive experience in the management and operation of aviation infrastructure, including the first airport concession project in Russia (Pulkovo, St Petersburg).

In his new role, he will be responsible for the management of the company, as the construction project approaches completion and preparations are made for the start of operations at the New Heraklion International Airport of Crete.

The new airport, a state-of-the-art infrastructure project with the capacity to serve more than 15 million passengers annually, is expected to play a key role in strengthening Crete’s tourism, economy and connectivity.

The company “Heraklion International Airport of Crete” was established for the construction and management of the New International Airport at Kasteli, Crete. Its shareholders are the Greek State (45.90%), GEK TERNA S.A. (32.46%) and GMR Airports Ltd (21.64%).
