With two unique activities, the Heraklion Mountaineering Club invites us on an adventure on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 May.
Introduction to Rock Climbing
Saturday 9 May 2026
An opportunity for both experienced and new climbers to enjoy a unique experience in nature, discover an exciting sport, become accomplished athletes and take part in competitions.
The climbing field where the activity will take place will be selected according to the weather conditions of the day.
Under the guidance of rock-climbing coaches and members of the Heraklion Mountaineering Club, Thomas Viskadourakis and Valia Andreadaki, everyone can get acquainted with the sport of rock climbing, complete at least one climbing route with complete safety and without any danger.
Technical equipment will be provided by the Mountaineering Club.

Demati – Hoursakas Peak – Dermatos
Sunday 10 May
The starting point of the route is the historic church of Agia Paraskevi, located in a beautiful ravine 1.5 km from Demati, where participants will travel by bus.
We walk southeast, initially along a dirt road at the foot of the mountain ridge. We ascend towards Hoursakas Peak and then, following the ridgeline with views east towards the gorge of Anapodaris and the Viannos mountains (southern Dikti), and west towards the Asterousia Mountains, we descend to Dermatos for a swim, or alternatively to one of the beaches of Tsoutsouros or Keratokampos (Listis, Skouros or Limanaki).
This excursion is being organised by the Club for the first time.
