Events dedicated to Cretan pottery, from antiquity to the present, under the title Earth Water Fire, will take place in Thrapsano on July 3, 4, 5 & 6, 2025. 

The events will run daily from 6:30 p.m. to midnight.

Admission is free for the public.

Thursday July 3 - Thrapsano Main Square

• Opening of Earth Water Fire 2025

• Addresses: Georgia Milaki, Nikos Liarios, Vasilis Kegkeroglou, Haris Roditakis

• Opening speech: The importance of preserving living heritage and the role of civil society.

• Speech: “The gold of Crete”: Wine in the Venetian period.

• Presentation: Winemaking in a clay pithos. Presentation and wine-tasting.

• Music night with Yannis Sopasis (Vrouvoyannis).

Friday July 4

Michalis Choulakis Pottery Workshop (10:00-12:00)
Subject: “Nature and Art. The soils of Thrapsano.”

• Speech: Pithoi from prehistoric Akrotiri, Santorini.

• Workshops for children and adults.

• Pithos-making demonstration by Thrapsano potters.

• Children’s pottery workshop “Travelling”.

• Preparation and serving of traditional doughnuts.

• Archaeological workshop by Gabriela Lazoura.

• Presentation of Cretan Cuisine: Stewed grass peas with aubergines.
