The archaeological site of Knossos was closed on the afternoon of Friday, May 16th.

Strong winds in the area led the authorities to take this decision and evacuate the site.

Unfortunately, a section of the renowned dolphin fresco from the royal palace has detached for reasons that remain unknown. The site remains open to visitors from the morning of Saturday, May 18, with the affected area temporarily cordoned off.
