The second group exhibition under the theme “Port” will take place in Chania from 20 to 26 August 2025, as part of the European program Breaking the Patterns, co-organized by Capacity Ireland (Ireland), the Cretan Cultural Organization (Chania), and the Institute of European Education (Rethymno).
The opening will be held on Wednesday, 20 August, at 7:00 p.m. at the cultural venue IP12 House, 12 Iroon Polytechniou, Chania.
The exhibition features six artists from Ireland and seven artists living in Crete: Catherine Callanan, Laura Clarke, Luca Cosentino, Chloe O'Brien Bates, Niamh Twomey, James Wellwoud (Ireland) and Anastasios Alantzoglou, Phaedra Galanaki, Thamar Ghousi Gourgeneidze, Sotiria Kallia, Dimitra Xiraki, Katerina Soupekioti, Elena Stavropoulou (Greece).
As part of the program, the six artists from Ireland spent three months in Chania, getting to know the place, its people, and its culture, while undertaking internships in local cultural institutions with the support of the Municipality of Chania and the Crete Cultural Organization.
Working together with the Greek artists, and under the artistic supervision and guidance of Aliki Chiotaki [Interdisciplinary Artist ~ Body/Somatic Research ~ Curator], the works presented in the exhibition reflect different perspectives and approaches, as well as the points of convergence that emerge through the artists’ interaction and collaboration.
