The Region of Crete has been officially proclaimed European Region of Gastronomy for 2026, following a decision by the International Institute of Gastronomy, Arts and Tourism.

With the message “Taste Authentic Crete: Because here in Crete, we don’t serve food. We share it,” visitors are invited to savour Crete… on their plate!

In Crete, food is not served, it is shared — and you will feel this in every fragrant neighbourhood, in every village you happen to wander into.
