The Region of Crete, as part of the parallel event “Women” of the Crete Festival 2026, presents the “2nd Autumn Choral Gathering” on Wednesday, 30 September 2026, at 20:30, at the Erofili Theatre, Fortezza of Rethymno, with free admission.

The “Maestrines” of Rethymno invite the public to a special evening of music dedicated to the power of polyphony, collaboration and women’s creative presence in choral music.

Taking part in the concert are the Chorus Rettimo Cantus of the Rethymno Association for the Promotion of Fine Arts – Hellenic Conservatory Branch, conducted by Eleni Perpiraki; the Municipal Choir of Rethymno, conducted by Isidora Chalkiadaki; and the Mixed Choir of the University of Crete (UOC Chorus), conducted by Mariela Vitorou.

Three choirs and three female conductors come together on stage, highlighting choral music as a vibrant space for togetherness, artistic expression and creative dialogue.

The audience will have the opportunity to enjoy an autumn musical journey through melodies from the Greek and international repertoire, including popular, art and traditional songs, as well as works from different eras and musical styles.

In a setting of particular historical and cultural significance, the Erofili Theatre at the Fortezza of Rethymno, different voices come together as one musical “body”, conveying a message of collaboration, creativity and participation.

The parallel event “Women – Cultural Heritage – Creation” continues, carrying a consistent message across Crete: equality, freedom of expression and equal participation are fundamental values of a democratic and inclusive society.
